Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the NoteSurfing app (the "App") collects, what we use it for and what rights you have over it. NoteSurfing is operated by Alejandro Rivera, an independent developer based in Mexico City, Mexico ("we", "us").

1. Information we collect

Account. You can sign up with Google, with Apple, or with your email and a password. We receive your name and email address. Passwords are stored encrypted by our authentication provider; we cannot see them.

Profile and progress. Your voice type, level, completed lessons, scores, streak, XP and ranking position. We store them so your progress is available on any device where you sign in.

Voice recordings. Several exercises use the microphone to listen to you and grade you:

Reading, Repertoire and Kodály: we record your voice during the exercise and send it to our servers to grade it. To recognize the notes you say, we use specialized speech recognition services.
Intonation: exercises with one or two notes are analyzed on your device, and that audio does not leave it. Longer melodies are recorded and analyzed on our servers.
Rhythm and Ear training: these do not record your voice. You answer by tapping the screen.

Recordings that reach our servers are stored together with their analysis and linked to an identifier of your account.

Subscription. Payments are processed by the Apple App Store and Google Play and managed through RevenueCat. We never see or store your card details; we only receive your subscription status.

Notifications. If you turn on the daily reminder, we store the time you chose and a device identifier to send you the notification.

Errors and performance. We use Sentry to receive reports when the App crashes: device model, OS version and the technical details of the error.

About your recordings. We are developing our own technology to evaluate solfège. Recordings and their analysis may be used to improve NoteSurfing and to train our own evaluation models. We do not sell your recordings or use them for advertising.

2. How we use it

To provide the service: grade your exercises, save your progress and personalize your path.
To manage your subscription and each plan's usage limits.
To improve how accurately the App listens to you, including training our own models.
To detect and fix errors.
To send you the daily reminder, if you turn it on, and to contact you about your account.
To comply with legal obligations.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We only share it with the providers we need to run the App, and only for that purpose:

Supabase: database, file storage and authentication.
Specialized speech recognition and artificial intelligence services: they process the audio and its transcription to grade your exercises. They may temporarily retain the information they receive under their own policies.
RevenueCat, Apple and Google: subscriptions, payments and sign-in.
Sentry: error reports.

Some of these providers are located outside Mexico, so your information may be stored or processed in other countries, such as the United States. By using the App you agree to this transfer, which is made only for the purposes described here.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your account and progress for as long as your account exists. Recordings may be kept on our servers for the purposes described in this policy.

You can delete your account at any time in the App, under Perfil → Ajustes → Eliminar cuenta (Profile → Settings → Delete account). This deletes your account and your progress. If you also want us to delete your recordings, email privacy@notesurfing.com and we will do it.

5. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it or object to its use for a specific purpose, and to withdraw your consent. To exercise these rights, email privacy@notesurfing.com from your account's email address. We reply within 20 business days.

6. Children

NoteSurfing is for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. An adult may use their own account to help a younger student; in that case, the adult is responsible for the account. If you believe a child under 13 has given us their data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures, such as encrypted connections and access control on our database. No system is perfect, but we work to protect your information.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know inside the App.
